RAC Corporate History

Today we are pleased to say that SMART and RAC have evolved to once again be an industry standard and are deployed and utilized by various major aerospace and defense companies, providing significant return on investment for these programs.

  • Originally founded in 1984 as Research Analysis Corporation.
  • In 1994 RAC developed the Health Model software application for identifying and tracking key obsolescence problems for complex military systems.  The Health Model became the de facto Industry Standard for Obsolescence Management and created the DMS/MS industry terminology of “Health” and associated Red/Yellow/Green alerts and assessment.
  • In September 1997 the success of Health Model led to a merger where RAC was acquired by Transition Analysis of Component Technology (TACTech).  The Health Model product was re-branded to be called “TACTRAC” which is a combination of the two company names TACTech and RAC.
  • From 1997 - 2000, the TACTRAC product captured a majority of the Military & Aerospace Obsolescence Management market share with over 130 clients worldwide.
  • In 2001 RAC was re-incorporated as Resource Analysis Corporation with the vision and goal to reposition itself in the DMS/MS marketplace and to once again provide the leading world-class software solutions in this market.
  • Our key early adopter clients were Boeing St. Louis and the AEGIS Program at NSWC-PHD.
  • In 2003 RAC launched and released the SMART product which was to be the next generation Supportability and Obsolescence Management Solution. RAC worked to develop the SMART software solution and to provide differentiating elements and key missing pieces to the DMS/MS solution requirements.
